       Caring for the wetlands is everyone's responsibility.

1.What are the wetlands?

    The wetlands are the lands areas covered with water.
They include mangrove swamps,deltas,paddy fields,coral reefs,lakes,rivers,disused mining pools,etc.They can be both natural and manmade.

2.Why do we need to protect the wetlands?

    For survival: The wetlands are the source of fresh water.They must be conserved to meet the needs of the population.
    For biological diversity: Many species of plants,mammals reptiles,amphibians,fish and invertebrates thrives here.
For cleansing: The wetlands  act as ' kidneys',transforming water pollutants through physical,chemical and biological processes-an inexpensive method of purrification.
To maintain water levels: The wetlands can store excess water.
For ecological reasons: The wetlands are among the world's richest ecosystem.They provide man with rice,seafooods,flowers,fruits and other edibles.
For economic reason: Wood from mangrove swamps provide timber.The mangrove forest is also a rich feeding ground and nursery for many marine crustaceans and fishes.
For preservative of wildlife: The wetlands are a heaven for wildlife and are a part of our natural heritage.
